Gwrych Castle

Gwrych Castle is an imposing Grade I listed gothic ruin set on the picturesque North Wales coastline near Abergele, with spectacular sea views and impressive architecture around every corner. The castle rose to fame as the filming location for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021), and visitors can see information signage and some props retained from the series, including the famous telephone box and privy.

The scenic visitor route is open at weekends throughout the year, 10am-5pm (last admission 4pm). Along the way you'll find information signs about the castle's history, 10 labelled photo challenge spots, and self-guided tours via QR code leaflets from the ticket office. A few interior spaces are open to the public, including the historical exhibition with I'm A Celebrity memorabilia - the main building itself remains a ruin.

There is an all-weather car park on site (a 300m incline walk to the castle courtyard), a pop-up shop and cafe with light snacks and hot and cold drinks, temporary toilets, and plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic on the East Lawn. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads. The visitor route includes uneven terrain with steps and slopes, so sensible footwear is recommended; an accessible route is available for disabled visitors on request. Gwrych Castle is cared for by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust, a registered charity, and hosts family events throughout the year including medieval festivals, ghost hunts, artisan markets and more.
