William Wordsworth arrived at Dove Cottage in Grasmere in 1799 aged 29 and wrote many of his greatest poems while living here with his family. His sister Dorothy kept her Grasmere journal during their time at the cottage. You can visit the house itself, explore the garden-orchard, and then move into the adjoining museum to learn more about this period of his life and work. There is a children's area where kids can try writing poetry and using quill pens. A café with a snug area beyond it has comfortable chairs, books, crafting materials and toys.
