The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway runs heritage steam trains between Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion through the Banwy Valley in Powys, Wales. Steam and diesel trains travel the full line with return journey and one-way ticket options. The railway runs multiple departures daily on most days, with some special event services including afternoon tea trains and fish and chips trains. The Llanfair Caereinion station has a tearoom. You can upgrade to premium class travel or bring a picnic. A model railway exhibition and vintage vehicles feature at the annual Steam and Diesel Gala each September.

Service alterations: Diesel haulage until 10 August (inclusive) due to high line-side fire risk. Steam into the Summer Kids travel free between 18 July and 3 September. Steam and Diesel Gala 4 - 6 Sept 2026.
