A medieval castle built in the 13th century and remodelled over centuries into the grand home of the Herbert family, set above a world-famous garden. The castle's state rooms are furnished with decorative fabrics, paintings, furniture, tapestries, and the Clive Museum's collection of over 300 South Asian artefacts dating from about 1600 to the 1830s. The Grade I listed garden features 17th century Italianate terraces lined with vibrant herbaceous borders and 30ft clipped yew trees, an Edwardian formal garden with century-old apple trees and rose beds, and a peaceful woodland area with views across the Severn Valley. There are two cafés, a shop, a second-hand bookshop, and a plant shop on site. Dogs are welcome in the garden seasonally.

Garden Coffee Shop open April-September. Dogs welcome in garden 1 Nov-28 Feb and trial 6 Jun-31 Oct 2026. Summer of Play 18 Jul-1 Sep.
