Parking for around 100 cars; free for English Heritage members displaying a valid car sticker; non-members must pay. Designated disabled bays close to the castle entrance.

Carisbrooke Castle is an English Heritage castle and museum on the Isle of Wight, where families can climb the keep mound for far-reaching views, walk the medieval walls, and meet the castle's much-loved resident donkeys as they demonstrate the 16th-century treadwheel well house. Inside the gatehouse, the Carisbrooke Castle Museum holds Charles I memorabilia and changing exhibitions, while the Princess Beatrice Garden, Folktale Creature Trail and good-sized picnic lawns give kids plenty of space to explore. The Castle Tearoom serves hot and cold food, with high chairs and kids' lunchboxes available, and a well-stocked shop sells Isle of Wight products. Family events run through the school holidays, including jousting tournaments. Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds (but not in the museum).
