Ashdown Forest Riding Centre (also known as Anderida Stud Farm, Trekking and Riding Centre) sits in the heart of Ashdown Forest, a Special Area of Conservation within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Operating since 1995, the centre has 6,500 acres of unspoilt heathland crossed by bridle paths right on its doorstep, so hacks head straight out onto the forest for uninterrupted off-road riding. Horses and ponies range from 12hh to 16.3hh and riders of every ability are welcome, from complete beginners to those wanting competitive showjumping tuition in the large 60m x 20m outdoor arena. The minimum age for children is 5 years. Families can book private or semiprivate lessons, forest hacks, beach rides to Camber Sands and pub rides, and children's pony parties (for 4-8 children, around two and a half hours). During the summer school holidays the centre also runs Pony Days every Wednesday and Friday. The team has extensive experience riding with people with special needs. All bookings must be confirmed by telephone and require a 50% deposit by Bacs, and riding is weather-dependent as everything takes place outdoors. Riding hats and boots are provided. The centre also has two log cabins for rent on the farm, ideal for riding holidays.
Pony Days run every Wednesday and Friday during the summer school holidays. The loan/share scheme is recommended from March to October for longer days and better weather.
