Binning Wood is a historic 300-acre woodland near Tyninghame on the East Lothian coast, originally planted in 1707 by the 6th Earl of Haddington and replanted after the Second World War. Tall beech trees, quiet forest paths and open clearings make it a lovely spot for a gentle family walk, with plenty of birdlife to spot - look out for jays, great spotted woodpeckers and nuthatches. The wood is crossed by easy circular trails, and a walk through the trees can be combined with nearby Tyninghame Beach for a full day out. Please note that part of the wood is a natural burial (memorial) woodland, so families are asked to walk quietly and respectfully through that area. There is a small car park at the wood and dogs are welcome on leads.
