Castle Coole

An 18th-century Neo-classical mansion set in a wooded landscape park. The house contains opulent Regency furnishings, paintings and plasterwork, plus an extensive suite of servants' rooms and service quarters showing how staff lived and worked. Two walking trails loop through the woodland—the Lake Walk passes beside Lough Coole spotting wildlife, while the Beech Trail winds through the wood past an 18th-century Ice House. There's a playground and picnic area, a second-hand bookshop, and a tearoom in the historic Tallow House (once used for soap and candle making).
