Roseberry Topping is a distinctive iconic hill near Great Ayton, managed by the National Trust and within the North York Moors National Park. Its summit has a distinctive half-cone shape with far-reaching views across the Cleveland plain to the Pennines. A spur of the Cleveland Way National Trail runs up to the summit, making it a popular family walk. The hill is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) with a fascinating history dating back to the Bronze Age and was a childhood inspiration for explorer Captain James Cook.
Best visited in dry weather. Paths may be muddy after rain. Path repairs underway in partnership with National Park Authority.
