Gibside is a National Trust estate featuring a Georgian landscape garden set within 600 acres of woodland and riverside walks. Once the pleasure ground of Georgian coal magnate George Bowes, the estate now offers miles of peaceful trails, a walled garden, historic ruins including the Gibside Chapel and Banqueting House, and excellent family facilities. Kids will love the Strawberry Castle play area, nature playscape, Low Ropes Challenge, and the Explorer Trail. The estate also features a coffee shop serving wood-fired pizzas and lunches, a second-hand bookshop, and a plant sales area.
