A Victorian Grade II* listed pumping station opened as a museum in 1974. See over 50 machines including the oldest working triple expansion steam engine in the UK, plus beam, hot air, gas and diesel engines. The museum opens around 10 Sundays a year when the pumps run using steam as they originally did. Children can lift, pump, filter and squirt water in the waterpark, and follow a trail discovering hidden frogs. A separate WW2 exhibition shows an evacuee's bedroom, a 1940s-style kitchen, and a horse-drawn fire engine. There's a cafe serving hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes.
Machines in steam (Sundays) cost £12 adults; regular Tuesdays cost £8 adults. Sundays typically operate only in spring/summer/autumn.
