Alnwick Castle is a working medieval fortress with over 900 years of history. Inside the keep are the State Rooms — the Guard Chambers, Library, Drawing Room, Saloon, Dining Room and China Gallery. The Great Kitchen, built in the 1850s, opened to visitors for the first time in 2025. The castle grounds host daily activities including falconry demonstrations, jesters, medieval crafts, and guided tours. Broomstick Training takes place in the spot where Harry Potter filmed his first flying lesson. Current exhibitions include 'The Shot Heard Round the World' about Earl Percy and the American Revolutionary War. Tickets are valid for 12 months, allowing unlimited return visits during the open season.
