Berwick Barracks, designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor and built between 1717–1721, is a Grade I listed former military installation in Berwick-upon-Tweed. While the main barracks are undergoing redevelopment until 2028, the Main Guard Museum on Palace Street is open daily (except Wednesdays and Thursdays) from 12pm–4pm. The museum hosts the 'By Beat of Drum' exhibition depicting the life of the British infantryman and houses the last colours of the King's Own Scottish Borderers. Entry to the Main Guard Museum is free (donations welcome). The site also hosts the Maltings Cinema and Artist Studios. Managed by English Heritage in partnership with the Berwick Barracks Heritage Trust.
The Berwick Barracks are currently closed; English Heritage expects the Barracks to fully reopen in 2028.
