Ferry Meadows is the family-friendly heart of Nene Park in Peterborough - one of the region's largest country parks, just under three miles from the city centre. Entry is free and the park is open 365 days a year.

Kids will love the three play areas: Otter Play, an award-winning natural play area for younger children near the Visitor Centre with sand, water, rocks and a slide; Badger Play, an adventurous area refurbished in March 2026 with bird-nest turrets, climbing trunks and a wooded den-building area; and Fox Play, the largest, with 13 pieces of equipment including two zip wires, a climbing tower, tyre swings and pump-operated forest fountains.

There's plenty more to fill a day: hop aboard the miniature railway at the Ferry Meadows stop on the Nene Valley Railway, hire a bike or boat, try watersports at Nene Outdoors (open March to October), go fishing or sailing, or follow the walking and cycling trails including National Cycle Route 63. The Visitor Centre has a shop, friendly advice and mobility scooter hire, and there are two cafes - Ferry Meadows Cafe overlooking Overton Lake and Lakeside Kitchen & Bar by Gunwade Lake. Toilets, accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility are available, and dogs are welcome (kept on leads on central paths).

Car park entry is seasonal (summer 06:30-21:00, autumn 06:30-19:00, winter 06:30-18:30) and parking charges apply; pedestrians and cyclists can enter at any time. During school holidays Nene Park runs multi-activity holiday clubs for ages 5-13.

Open 365 days a year. Seasonal car park entry times apply (Summer 06:30–21:00, Autumn 06:30–19:00, Winter 06:30–18:30). Nene Outdoors watersports & activity centre open March–October.
