Lancaster Park & Animal Farm is a family-run petting farm on the edge of Chadderton, near Oldham. Children can meet, touch and feed animals including horses, miniature donkeys, alpacas, goats, pigs, rabbits, chickens and tortoises, many of them rescued. A scenic nature walk runs through the grounds with play areas, swings, slides and ziplines along the way. Younger visitors often head for the Caterpillar barrel ride, the Rooster Rally mini quads, the digger sand pit and a pirate shooting game. There is a kiosk for ice creams and hot drinks, and picnic benches for families who bring their own lunch. The farm is outdoors and open at set weekends and daily through school holidays, so it suits a relaxed half-day out with younger children.
Term-time and holiday patterns differ; closed from Christmas Day to mid-February.
