The Big Cat Sanctuary is a conservation charity set on rural grassland in Kent, home to around 40 cats from more than a dozen species, including lions, tigers, jaguars, snow leopards and smaller wild cats. Unlike a traditional zoo, it is not open for casual walk-in visits. Instead, families book pre-arranged experiences. A keeper-led sanctuary tour is pitched at first-time visitors and families, with small groups and a relaxed pace around the enclosures. Bigger outings include a hand-feeding encounter with a chosen cat, and an afternoon tea that is part of the sanctuary's fundraising. Older children can also join overnight lodge stays in the grounds. The site has a strong animal welfare and rescue focus, and visitors can see how the team cares for rescued cats and works on breeding and conservation programmes. It suits animal-loving families with older children who enjoy learning about wildlife.
