Stormhaven Escapes runs timed escape games in Woolston, on the east side of Southampton. Teams work through puzzles, clues and riddles to reach an objective before the clock runs out. The main draw is its virtual reality escapes, where players wear headsets and move through digital worlds such as ancient pyramids, cyberpunk cities and wartime settings, with controllers in each hand to pick up and interact with objects. There are also physical escape rooms with themed props and puzzles built around the story of each room. Sessions are normally private to the group that books, and a game master watches over each room and can offer hints. The venue suits families and groups of friends who want a shared challenge on a rainy afternoon, and the staff say children from around eight can take part in most VR escapes, depending on each game's recommended age. It sits close to Woolston railway station and bus routes.
