Southsea Model Village is an outdoor miniature world built in the grounds of an old Victorian fort on the Southsea seafront in Portsmouth. Opened in 1956, it brings together around forty tiny buildings, castles, forts and landscaped streets, along with a garden railway running G-scale trains through the scenery. Children tend to enjoy spotting the small details, following the quiz trail and watching the trains, while adults often come for the craftsmanship and the surrounding gardens. A tunnel leads visitors under the fort embankment to a model of local landmarks. Because it is open-air, the village suits sunny days best, and there is a café and picnic seating overlooking the sea. The site is close to the beach and the canoe lake, so it works well as part of a wider afternoon on the seafront.
