What’s there
- Café on site
No parking on site; the venue's page points to the Chesil Street multi-storey car park and park-and-ride, neither run by the National Trust. Cycle parking is on-street about 50m away.
Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.
Winchester City Mill is a historic corn mill on Bridge Street, run by the National Trust, where families can see how flour was traditionally ground by water power. Visitors can explore the mill room, watch milling demonstrations and look at displays on the building's history, which goes back to Saxon times. Children often enjoy the hands-on milling sessions and the chance to take home bags of flour milled on site. The riverside cafe serves baked goods, light lunches and hot drinks, and the small Island Garden sits between channels of the River Itchen, where otters are sometimes spotted on the otter camera. A second-hand bookshop is also on site. The mill race is currently closed while the water wheel is replaced, so check the venue's own notices before a visit. The site is compact, so it suits a relaxed visit of an hour or so.
