The Adjutant General's Corps Museum sits in the old guardroom at the top of Winchester's High Street, inside the Peninsula Barracks military quarter. It traces the story of the Adjutant General's Corps and the older corps that merged into it, including the Royal Army Pay Corps, the Royal Army Educational Corps and the Women's Royal Army Corps. Displays run in date order from the 18th century to the present day, using objects, photographs, text panels and dioramas that show everyday life in the Army rather than just battles. The single-storey galleries are easy to walk round with a pushchair, and there is seating throughout. Families visiting Winchester's other military museums nearby often combine the trips. Because entry is free, it suits a short, relaxed visit with children who enjoy history, uniforms and old objects.
