What’s there

  • Limited parking

No dedicated visitor car park. Spaces near Serle's House are occasionally free but not guaranteed; the museum suggests phoning or emailing first. Nearest public car park is Sussex Street/Tower Street multi-storey.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

The Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum occupies the ground floor of Serle's House, a Georgian building set back behind a rose garden on Southgate Street in Winchester. The displays cover the regiment's story from its formation in 1702 through to the present day, with uniforms, medals, weapons and personal artefacts, plus an interactive timeline that children can work through at their own pace. Outside, a memorial garden in front of the house is the focus of the regiment's remembrance. Entry is free, and the museum is a popular stop for school groups and local history visits. Because it is a small independent museum with compact rooms, a visit suits families with older children who enjoy history and objects more than hands-on play. Opening days are limited, so check the hours before making the trip.
