The Farnborough Air Sciences Trust museum sits on the historic Royal Aircraft Establishment site, in the RAE Heritage Quarter beside Farnborough Airport. It is run by volunteers and is housed in Trenchard House, one of the oldest aviation-related buildings in the country. Inside, families can look at early aircraft and jet engines, a full-size replica of an early pioneering flyer, research models linked to Concorde, and several sit-in aircraft cockpits. Some of the flight simulators are available to try, though these depend on volunteer availability. Visitors can also watch demonstrations of a working wind tunnel. Older children and aviation fans tend to get the most from it, and there is a small shop on site. Guided wind tunnel tours of the historic tunnels in the business park run in the summer months and need to be booked in advance.
