Facilities

The Royal Victoria Chapel is the last standing part of the huge Victorian military hospital at Netley, and it now houses a permanent exhibition on the hospital's history. Families can look through displays and old photographs about the doctors, nurses and patients who worked and stayed there, with stories linked to Queen Victoria's many visits. The chapel sits in Royal Victoria Country Park, a 200-acre site of parkland, woodland and shoreline where children can run about, visit the fairy garden and find the play area. Admission to the exhibition is free, so it suits a rainy-day visit or a gentle history stop between walks on the park's paths. The chapel is open at set times on weekends, so check the seasonal hours before setting out.
