Buckler's Hard is a preserved riverside village in the New Forest where warships were built in the 18th century. Families can wander the village streets, visit the replica timber-framed shipwrights' workshop and see the free HMS Agamemnon exhibition there, which tells the story of Nelson's favourite ship and the work to protect her wreck off Uruguay. The Shipwright's Cottage and St Mary's Chapel, with its smugglers' cellar, are also free to look around. For a small charge there is a village museum and a river cruise along the Beaulieu River. The site is mostly gravel paths and historic buildings, so it suits relaxed walks and story-led visits rather than rides, and there is a restaurant on site.
HMS Agamemnon - Navigating the Legend exhibition is in the Shipwright Workshop and is free to enter.
