Eling Tide Mill Experience is a working tide mill on the edge of Eling Creek, west of Southampton, where the tide still turns the water wheel that grinds wheat into flour. Visitors can watch the machinery through glazed panels, follow live camera views of the upper floors on a large screen, and learn how the mill works from video displays. The Discovery Room offers hands-on activities, including hand querns for grinding a little flour and a working model of a tide mill, which suit younger children. Families can also follow the riverside paths around the mill pond, look for crabs at the water's edge, and stop at the mill café. The site is compact, so a visit fits comfortably into an afternoon out.
