Emsworth Museum is a small, volunteer-run local history museum on the upper floor of the old town hall in Emsworth, on the shore of Chichester Harbour. The permanent display covers the town's working life, from the oyster industry and its fishing fleet to the shops, homes and businesses of past residents. Visitors will find a permanent exhibition devoted to the author P G Wodehouse, who lived and played cricket in the town, and the museum also holds material linked to the artist Sir Peter Blake. A separate room hosts temporary exhibitions that change through the season, and the museum runs talks and guided history walks of the town. It suits older children and families who enjoy local stories, boats and maritime history, and it pairs well with a stroll along the harbour. The visit is short and quiet, so it works best as an easy add-on to a seaside afternoon.
Seasonal, Easter to October. Talks are held out of season.
