The Sustainability Centre is an independent learning centre run by a charity on 55 acres of woodland and chalk downland inside the South Downs National Park. Its main draw for families is outdoor learning: pupils and groups take part in themed days covering topics such as habitats, renewable energy, Saxon history, bushcraft and farming, and there are Forest School sessions for children aged roughly six to sixteen. Visitors can walk the site's woodland paths, see the sustainable buildings and gardens, and stop at the Beech Cafe. A shop called Eco Squirrel sells locally made gifts. The site is most useful for school trips, home-educated groups and families interested in nature and practical green living, and it is also used for adult courses and accommodation. Check ahead before visiting, as the site has uneven ground and the centre is closed on some public holidays.
