Titchfield Abbey is an open-air historic site in the village of Titchfield, a short drive from Fareham. The ruins combine a medieval abbey, founded for Premonstratensian canons in the 13th century, with a later Tudor country house built within what remained of the church. The standout feature is a turreted gatehouse raised across the old nave. The site is compact and can be walked round at an easy pace, though some of the ground is uneven and there are steep stairs to be aware of. Families can pair a visit with nearby Netley Abbey or the coastal castles at Calshot and Portchester. Dogs on leads are welcome, and it suits a relaxed outing with older children who enjoy exploring ruins and hearing about monastic and Tudor life.
