Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway is a small passenger railway run by a model engineering society at a picnic site surrounded by woodland on Tarn Lane. Trains are pulled by members' own scale steam and diesel engines around a Gauge One track, so older children and adults who enjoy trains will find plenty to watch as well as ride. A separate ground-level Playmobil railway lets the youngest visitors operate the engines themselves. Families often bring a picnic and spend the afternoon on the grass and picnic tables. Rides are free, with donations welcomed to keep the line running. The railway runs on Sundays and bank holidays through the summer, with extra afternoons in some school holidays, and it is closed over the winter months. Because it is outdoors and weather-dependent, check the current running days before setting out.
Seasonal: open Good Friday to late October; closed November to March.
