Aldenham Country Park is a not-for-profit farm and countryside site on the edge of London, run partly for education and care work. Families come to meet rare breed livestock, including the park's well-known longhorn cattle, and to walk the nature trails through woodland and around the lake. There is a Winnie the Pooh themed 100 Aker Wood trail for younger children, and an adventure playground that is popular with older children. Young visitors can also look for the farm animals during the petting sessions. The site has a farm shop and two places to eat, so a day here can be spent without leaving. Some areas of the farm and all the play areas are off-limits to dogs, so check the signs when you arrive. Booking ahead is recommended for the farm and the playground at busy times, and the park itself can be visited without a booking.
Adventure playground, farm and kiosk times change through the year; Halloween and Christmas events run seasonally.
Questions parents ask
- Can I manage the park with a toddler and an older child at the same time?
- The park spans 100 acres with woodland, gardens, and play facilities, so it suits mixed ages, though the structured facts do not confirm whether it is buggy-friendly across all areas. A café and picnic area are available if you need to rest between activities.
- Is there a café, or should I bring a picnic?
- There is a café and a kiosk on site, so you can buy food. The park also has a dedicated picnic area if you prefer to bring your own.
- What should I do if the weather is bad?
- The park is both indoor and outdoor, with a café available. However, the page does not specify which facilities remain open in poor weather, so it is worth checking before visiting in rain.
- How long should I allow for a visit?
- A typical visit is around 3 hours. The 100 acres include woodland, gardens, a playground, and animal-related activities, so families with different interests can find plenty to do.
- Do I need to book in advance, or can we just turn up?
- The page does not specify whether advance booking is required. Contact the park directly to confirm whether you can visit without booking on the day you plan to come.
