Ayton Castle is a 19th-century Scots baronial mansion set in woodland and parkland above the Eye Water in the Berwickshire countryside. The castle is not open every day; the owners run guided tours and a tea room on selected days through the year. Families tend to come for the miniature railway, which carries passengers on a short run through the grounds to a halt near the castle, and for the riverside and tree-lined walks through the estate. Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds. Visitors should check the dates before setting out, as openings follow the owners' calendar rather than a fixed weekly pattern.
Open days and railway running days are set by the owners and change through the year.
