The Great Polish Map of Scotland is a large outdoor relief model of the whole country, cast in concrete in the grounds of Barony Castle Hotel on the edge of the Scottish Borders. Visitors walk around and over the map to pick out mountains, glens, lochs and islands, which makes it a good way for children to get a sense of where places are in Scotland. It is reached by a short path from the hotel, down a flight of steps, so it suits families who enjoy a stroll outdoors rather than a fixed attraction with rides or play equipment. The surrounding estate has woodland and a small glen, and the map sits on a waymarked walking circuit from the village of Eddleston, so it pairs well with a walk. Access is free. The hotel is an older castle building, so check the hotel's own details before visiting if you need specific facilities.
