Set in the walled garden of Sion Hill Hall in the Yorkshire countryside, this birds of prey centre is home to roughly a hundred birds from around fifty species, including owls, vultures, eagles and kites. The main draw is the daily programme of free-flight displays, which run in a timetable that changes through the season and include themed shows. Families can watch the birds swoop close overhead while a commentator explains what is happening and talks about the centre's conservation work. Between displays there is time to wander the aviaries and see the birds resting. A snack bar, gift shop and picnic area make it an easy half-day or full-day visit, and there is a free children's activity sheet. The centre also runs hands-on handling experiences for older children and adults, which are charged separately from general admission.
