Craven Museum is housed inside Skipton Town Hall, a Grade II listed building on the High Street. Its collection of around 60,000 objects tells the story of the Craven district, from prehistoric and Roman finds to the limestone caves of the area, Victorian domestic life and a display of furniture by the woodcarver known as the Mouseman. The venue describes it as suitable for all ages, and families can pick up printed trails aimed at different age groups with activities to follow around the galleries. A changing exhibition programme runs in the first-floor gallery, and the museum holds relaxed sessions for visitors who prefer a quieter visit. The Town Hall also has a gift shop and visitor centre, so it works well as a stop before or after a walk around Skipton.
