Bristol Dockyards is built around Isambard Kingdom Brunel's SS Great Britain, the world's largest passenger ship when it launched in 1843 and one of the first iron, propeller-driven ocean liners. The new museum combines interactive exhibitions with historic artefacts, exploring the ship's 41 years of service and the people who built it, the migrants who travelled aboard, and the Bristol communities connected to its story. Families can walk the decks, take part in interactive challenges inspired by the ship's global voyages, and explore hands-on activities across the 200-year-old dockyard. The site also includes the Being Brunel Museum and the Brunel Institute, home to one of the world's finest maritime collections.
