Pennine Cruisers runs short boat trips on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal from its yard just off the High Street in Skipton, with a short arm of the Springs Branch also on the route. The simplest option is a 30-minute trip on an open passenger boat that departs through the day, a gentle way for children to see the canal, the locks and the Dales scenery without any walking. Families who want longer can hire a self-drive day boat for a full day on the water, or book a skippered trip with a crew member at the helm. The operator also runs seasonal sailings and crafting workshops aboard one of its trip boats, which suit older children and grandparents alike. A small shop on Coach Street sells gifts, including a local jigsaw. The departure point sits close to the town's cafes and shops, so a boat ride fits easily into a wider day in Skipton.
