A one-mile miniature railway set in Runcorn Town Park, where children can ride a short steam or petrol-hauled train through woodland and across a small bridge. The line was opened in 1979 and is run entirely by volunteers from a society. Trains usually run on weekend afternoons in the warmer months, with occasional special steam days, so families should check before travelling. Rides are free, with donations welcomed. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult on the train. The park beside the line has a free children's play area with picnic tables, and refreshments are available from the nearby ski centre, which makes it a simple outing for a relaxed afternoon with little ones.
Mainly April to October; limited winter running.
