Home Farm sits within the Temple Newsam estate on the eastern side of Leeds and is run by the city council's museums service. Visitors wander through historic cobbled yards and outbuildings, meet working farm animals and see a large collection of rare breeds, and learn how the farm has changed over the years. Younger children tend to enjoy the close contact with the animals. Alongside the farm is the Play Barn, an indoor adventure play space set in a restored former cow byre, with separate zones for toddlers and for older children inspired by the countryside around it. A family café and a gift shop are on site. Story time, music sessions and calmer SEND sessions run during the week, and the Play Barn makes the visit workable on a wet day as well as a dry one.
