Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a working farm and registered charity on a 24-acre site a short distance from Leeds city centre. Families can meet a range of farm animals including alpacas, donkeys, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks and rare-breed sheep, and walk through the gardens and the woodland. The farm has a small on-site coffee shop, picnic areas and a shop selling seasonal produce. Children can take part in the farm's school and education programmes, and the farm runs holiday playschemes. Visits are casual and do not need to be booked in advance, though group visits and school trips do. Animals cannot be fed by visitors, and some grassy and woodland paths may be muddy, so sensible footwear is a good idea. Much of the site is outdoors, so a dry day gives the best view of the animals.
