Willow Tree Farm is a family-run working farm on the Somerset Levels, near Highbridge, built around a herd of Highland cattle and a growing family of rescue animals. The main draw is the Highland cow experience, where visitors can hand-feed the adult cows with carrots, spend time with the calves and, if the animals are willing, take a short walk with them. Children are welcome and under-fives go free, so it suits younger visitors as well as older children and adults. Other activities include Swiss Valais sheep walks and feeding, and tractor rides around parts of the farm not normally open to the public. Afternoon tea can be added to a visit and is served in a barn overlooking the cow fields. Experiences are exclusive to your own group and need to be booked in advance, so check availability before you travel.
