Fenton House and Garden is a 17th-century house on the hill at the top of Hampstead village, cared for by the National Trust. Its rooms hold a collection of early keyboard instruments, Oriental and European porcelain, needlework and 20th-century paintings. The garden is walled and includes lawns, a sunken rose garden, a kitchen garden and an orchard of heritage fruit trees, with gravel paths and some steps between its levels. Volunteer musicians play some of the historic instruments on open days, which can suit older children who enjoy music. Families with curious older children, or anyone interested in history, music and gardens, will find it worth a slow visit. It sits close to Hampstead Heath, so it pairs well with a walk afterwards.
Closed for the winter period; reopening stated as Spring 2027 on the operator's page.
