Facilities
We haven’t checked this venue’s facilities yet. Give them a ring if something specific matters for your visit.
The Freud Museum occupies the red-brick house in Hampstead where Sigmund Freud lived during the last year of his life after fleeing Vienna in 1938. Visitors can walk through the ground-floor study, library, hall and dining room, which are kept much as Freud left them, and see the famous psychoanalytic couch. Upstairs there is an exhibition room and a video room showing short films, including Freud's own home movies. The house is a quiet, compact museum, so it suits older children and teenagers who are curious about history, books and ideas more than younger children who need hands-on play. Children under 12 are admitted free, and the museum runs learning sessions for school groups. The garden and nearby Hampstead Heath make it easy to combine the visit with a walk afterwards.
