Chelsea Physic Garden is a walled botanic garden in Chelsea, founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries as a place to grow plants for medicine and train apprentices. Its living collections include thousands of medicinal, edible and useful plants, and the venue describes historic glasshouses as part of the visit. The grounds are a calm green space in central London, laid out on one level with flat stone-shingle paths, and there is a café on site. Families can take part in the family activities and workshops the garden runs through the year, and school groups visit for outdoor learning sessions. It suits children who enjoy plants and history, older pupils on a science or heritage trip, and adults who want a quiet garden walk. The garden is not a play space, so younger children will need closer supervision among the beds.
