Imperial War Museum London is a national museum of modern war and conflict housed in a striking building in Lambeth, south London. Its atrium and six floors of galleries tell the stories of ordinary people who lived through wars, with large objects, film, photography and personal testimony. Families can take part in free hands-on activities and adventure trails at weekends and every day during school holidays. A dedicated free exhibition about how children have experienced conflict from 1914 to the present day is designed for families with children aged eight and over, with younger visitors welcome too. There is also a gallery of art, film and photography exploring creativity set against destruction. Older children and teenagers often get the most from the displays, while younger ones enjoy the trails and interactive activities.
