Forty Hall is a 1620s Grade I listed manor house on a large estate on the northern edge of Enfield, managed by the local council. Inside, a permanent exhibition follows the families who lived there, with period rooms, audio and visual displays, archaeological finds and hands-on activities for children. Outdoors, families can explore the walled garden, lakes, meadows and woodland, following the estate's walks and seasonal children's trails. An organic farm on the estate keeps sheep, pigs, horses and other rare breed animals, and a café and gift shop sit alongside. The estate hosts events and workshops through the year, and the open grounds suit a relaxed walk or picnic as well as a museum visit.
