Cupar Museum and Heritage Centre occupies rooms at the east end of Cupar's 19th-century railway station building. Its two ground-floor rooms tell the story of the town and its surrounding area, from early Pictish settlement through medieval times and its days as a Royal Burgh, up to more recent events. Displays combine artefacts, paintings, documents and old photographs, and the second room hosts changing themed exhibitions on subjects such as past local industries, notable people and local traditions. Volunteers are on hand to talk visitors through the displays, which suits families with older children who enjoy local history and old objects. The visit is short and gentle, so it works well as a rainy-afternoon stop or a pause on a trip through Cupar. Entry is free, with donations welcomed. The museum is open only seasonally, so families should check the current opening days before travelling.
