JetEx is a flight simulator experience based in a unit at Commerce Park, just outside Frome in Somerset. Visitors sit in the captain's seat of a real Boeing 737 cockpit mounted on a six-axis motion platform, so take-off, turbulence and landing are felt as well as seen. Sessions run for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes with an instructor seated alongside, who briefs everyone first and guides the flight. The site says children from around 12 years old, and younger ones with a strong interest in aviation, are welcome when accompanied by an adult, and that a height of about 140 cm is recommended. It suits birthdays, teenagers with an interest in flying, and families who want a different kind of day out. Beginners and experienced pilots both book sessions, and a friend can join in the jump seat. The company also runs courses for pilots and for nervous flyers, which are separate from the simulator visit.
