The Thomas Poole Library is a community library housed in a building that Thomas Poole originally built as a school, in the village of Nether Stowey on the edge of the Quantock Hills. It is run by a charity of volunteers after the earlier council library faced closure. For families, the draw is a colourful children's corner with picture books and DVDs for all ages, a Monday morning storytime with nursery rhymes and music for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, and themed activities and a tent to play in during school holidays. Older children can take part in a summer reading challenge. Parents can use the free Wi-Fi and computers while children browse, and there is a regular programme of clubs and talks. Entry is free, so it suits a quiet rainy-day visit or a relaxed stop while exploring the Quantocks.
