Deanston Distillery sits in a former Victorian cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith and still runs its water turbine to power the plant. The visitor centre welcomes children of all ages, so families can look around the displays and shop while older children take a guided look at the production areas. Tours into the stillhouse and warehouses are for children aged eight and over, with under-18s accompanied by an adult throughout. A small on-site cafe sits alongside the visitor centre. The distillery suits older children and teenagers curious about how whisky is made, and works well as a stop between Stirling, Doune Castle and the Trossachs. Some experiences are for adults only, so check the tour you are booking before setting out with younger children.
