Liverpool Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral of the city, a huge Gothic Revival building with a vast interior that families can wander through at their own pace. Children tend to enjoy the scale of the place, the stained glass and carvings, and the chance to climb the tower for a panoramic view over the city and the river. The cathedral runs family trails, seasonal activities and school holiday events designed to help younger visitors explore the building in a hands-on way. There is a bistro on site for a break, and a shop. Because it is a working church, some areas can be closed at times for services or events, so it is worth checking what is open before a visit. Dogs are welcome. The visit suits a relaxed half-day, with the tower and the family activities giving older children something to focus on.
Family trails, seasonal events and school holiday activities are run through the year; check the what's-on calendar for dates.
